Failure sucks...

Yes I am back, thanks to this abundance of free time that I now have.

I am actually feeling pretty bummed at the moment. I entered a writing competition a few months ago and the results came out today. I didn't even make it to the finalists list. When I read the list of finalists and saw that my name was not on it, it was like someone had just kicked me in the balls.(For those of you who cannot imagine what that feels like, it was as if someone had punched me in the stomach.)

I was violently disappointed and even went back to make sure that my name wasn't on it. Now, I am not about to run off and cry foul... That would be stupid. Last year I entered the same competition and the result was the same. But this year it feels worse. I am not saying my writing is of Shakespearian quality, I just feel pretty shitty that I'm still not good enough, even to be a runner up. It is very discouraging and puts a huge dent in a person's aspirations. It makes me doubt... Will I ever be THAT good? Will I ever be a published writer?  Oh well, better luck next year I guess...

Thanks to google's new logo, I saw that tomorrow would have been Mr.Charlie Chaplin's 122d birthday. So I thought I would pay homage to the legend of one of my life's obsessions: Movies. I didn't get to see any of his "movies", but I did see a couple of clips and realised that for his time, he was the funniest man in the world. Laughter is one of the things in the world that can never be too much and I was happy to see that Charlie Chaplin was of this opinion as well.

A day without laughter is a day wasted.-Charlie Chaplin.

Ciao.

PS: Speaking of movies, I am going to watch 'Chocolat' tonight. Everyone ranted and raved about it when it came out, it stars Johnny Depp who is one of the greatest actors in the world right now and it's about chocolate... Good enough reasons for me to see what all the fuss is about.
